I wish I had an Airstream but it's all good. I have two dogs with me in my 30' Dutchmen and I have to agree, it would be very lonely without them. Oh, yeah that joint in Bellevue, Trailer Inns, it really does suck.

Re: 2 strokes and powerstrokes

I think the perception is that a scooter is just a step up from bicycle, meaning it doesn't require much more protection than if you were on a bike. Again, it's just a perception. A motorcycle suddenly seems a bit extreme to most. But as you pointed out, scooters can reach motorcycle speeds. And on city streets, where there are lots of cars/traffic and you don't usually get over 45mph, a scooter, a motorcycle and even a pedal-powered bicycle all share the same safety risk. It's insane to just hop on anyone of these things with just shorts and a pair of flip-flops.

Re: Backyard

The RV park itself is called "Saratoga Springs" but yeah, the city itself is just Saratoga, CA.

Re: Backyard

It's just Saratoga, Saratoga Springs is back east somewhere. My current plan is to buy a few adustable legs and unhook the table from the wall to lower it; I think that would make things better for the time being. Long term I think this will need to be turned into a proper workspace with a good chair, though.

Re: Airstream Lessons

I have had the same random problems with my water heater (when it rains, or there is a heavy fog). I have used a hair dryer to dry things off, and it fired up. I changed the circuit board, but that didn't cure it. I have cleaned all the contacts, and it still happens occasionally. I called Atwood and the tech basically couldn't provide any assistance, so I am still searching for a cure.

You are correct about the dinette seating....the seat nearest the door is (was) terribly uncomfortable. I removed that seat, and the dinette.....replaced with a leather recliner and folding table from Camping World. If you would like pictures, drop me an note. We have an '08 25 FB SE.

BTW, nice Blog!

Re: Sanborn County Park

We're actually still staying in Saratoga Springs, the entrance to which is only about 200 feet away from the trailhead in Sanborn. (And given the poor reviews of Sanborn's camping facilities, I can't imagine why anybody wouldn't just stay in Saratoga Springs instead..)

In my experience, usually the RV length limit does not including the tow vehicle, as long as the place has parking nearby (which almost every place does). I took this into consideration when I got the 28, as on the various airstream forums they mentioned sticking with the 28 or smaller if you plan on doing any camping in state parks.

Re: Sanborn County Park

Enjoying your postings. We too have a 28' CCD and have not had any experience yet with state and federal parks. Noticed that Sanborn park limits RV length to 30 feet, so I assume in using these parks that the accepted length is less the tow vehicle?

Good luck.

Re: Airstream Lessons

Thanks for the tip! I've never actually had the unit serviced since I bought it from the previous owner (though he had just had it fully serviced, so who knows) -- I'll bring this up next month when I take it in. Good to know.

Re: Airstream Lessons

You should look into getting the entire rotating assembly balanced - your clothing should NOT wind up on the floor at the end of the day - also, run the minimum amount of air pressure in the tires as called for by the tire manufacturer spreadsheets.

Good camping - hope you find the problems causing your OTR vibrations.

Re: Water Woes

...or you could just shower outside.
Do Airstreams float?
